RICHMOND, St. Ann — Preparations for the second annual Jamaica Curry festival slated for Sunday, October 16 at Richmond Estate near Priory in St Ann is said to be moving apace.

Dancehall artiste Bounty Killer is slated to head the list of entertainers being billed to perform. Other entertainers include Romain Virgo, Christopher Martin, Jahvinci, Zamuda, Ity and Fancy Cat and upcoming act Specialist. Deejay Stacious is the lone female on the bill.

The list of entertainers was revealed last Saturday during a media launch at Richmond Estate where sponsors including Digicel and energy drink Liquid Nitro officially endorsed the event.

Sponsorship executive at Digicel Sandra Ledgister said her company was pleased to be associated with the festival . “We are extremely delighted to be a part of it,” Ledgister said. “It falls under our portfolio where community events (and) festivals form a major part of our commitment to giving back to the community and Jamaica on a hold.”

Promoter for the event, Garwin Davis, said he was pleased to have Digicel and the other sponsors on board and explained that patrons should be treated to a “great time’ as a stellar entertainment package and great curried dishes await them.

He said that a variety of curried dishes including pork, ackee and saltfish, ice-cream, jackfruit, mango, breadfruit, cake, fish, chicken and rice would be among the many curried meals at the event.

“We are going to have a special thing called the high school cook-off between kids where kids from the high schools will cook off and they are going to be graded on taste and presentation,” he said several school in St Ann have already signed up for that competition.

The winning school, he said, would receive a brand new gas stove. Part proceeds from the Jamaica Curry Festival will be donated to the St Ann Infirmary and the Windsor Girls’ Home in St Ann’s Bay.
