RBC outscore CIBC/First Caribbean 6-2
A double strike from Rohan Findlay carried RBC Royal Bank to a 6-2 victory and their first win in the JNBS/Western Sports-sponsored Norman Goodison Inter-Bank football competition Sunday at the NWC field, Mona.
Yohance Brown gave RBC the lead in the 18th minute when he headed in a corner from Paul Heslop.
Findlay score his first goal, also by heading past goalkeeper Tremaine Buchanan from a Heslop corner.
CIBC/First Caribbean pulled back a goal in the 34th when he converted a cross from Vaughn Johnson as the half ended 2-1. Michael Clarke made it 3-1 in the 61st after he tapped in a cross from Findlay past a hapless Buchanan. Central defender Lean Fearon was red-carded in the 62nd by referee Karl Tyrell after he used his hand to stop a shot destined for goal from Findlay.
The resulting penalty was kicked away by Rohan Tomlinson. Marc Heslop made it 4-1 a minute later when Findlay was brought down in the 63rd by Buchanan, and the resulting kick scored by Marc Heslop.
Findlay got his second goal in the 65th after he went on a solo dribble and beat three defenders. It was 6-1 in the 68th after he cut back a ball to Kelvin Lawrence in the box, which he scored.
Kinglock got the second goal in the 90th by scoring a penalty.
In the opening game at the venue, JNBS and Sagicor Group played to a 1-1 draw. Dyshone Clake gave JNBS the lead in the 4th minute, while Omar Brown got the equaliser in the 40th for Sagicor.
In the other match at the Old Men’s Hockey Field, defending champions ScotiaBank Group defeated Bank of Jamaica, 4-0, with Akeem Thenstead getting a hat-trick.
He scored in the 21st, 56th and the 70th minutes. Donovan Hibbert scored the other in the 73rd.
The league will continue on Sunday with RBC Royal Bank vs NCB at 2:00 pm and BOJ vs JNBS at 4:00 at NWC field. Sagicor will play CIBC/First Caribbean at 3:00 pm at the Old Men’s Hockey Field.
