Comedians make serious gesture
Comedic duo Ity and Fancy Cat made a contribution of their work to the downtown Kingston-based National Library of Jamaica’s (NLJ) Legal Deposit recently.
The actors handed over a copy of their DVD production The Ity and Fancy Cat Show 100 Minutes of Jamaican Laughter.
The DVD is compilation of episodes from season four of their TV series The Ity & Fancy Cat Show.
The duo said their work is a part of Jamaican culture and were pleased to be doing their part in building the national collection.
Legal Deposit is an integral part of building a comprehensive and complete national collection. Its importance was recognised in Jamaica over six years ago when it became law for two copies of all books and one copy of audio-visual materials produced in Jamaica to be deposited with the National Library of Jamaica.
Other persons have also made deposited in the previous weeks included among them are former food writer Rosemary Parkinson, who deposited Nyam Jamaica; and former Cabinet Secretary Dr Charlton Davis, who handed over the third edition of his book Jamaica in the World of Aluminum Industry The Partnership and Joint Venture Agreement.
Nine-year-old Joel Mcgowan also deposited his first work — a book of poetry titled; Journey by 9: My artistic thoughts and expressions.
