OH Christmas Tree Part 1
The Holidays are fast approaching and the signs are everywhere. Christmas carols playing, poinsettias in bloom and decorations on display all around, which therefore has us all trying to figure out…what theme or colour scheme will be our choice this year. As I scoured the place searching for new ideas to incorporate in my Holiday decor, I found the most beautiful and interesting options in several different places: Liguanea Drug and Garden, The Christmas Place @ Super Value and AzMart. I also discovered the money-saving option of redecorating your existing ornaments and decorations with spray paint, glitter and trimmings, to breathe new life into your old pieces. This is a great way to achieve a non-traditional look for your Christmas tree and achieving colours that you may not be able to find, like black and neon colours, for example.
To spray-paint and glitter your decorations, you will need to create a workspace using newspapers and a large box, because mist tends to spread from the spray and glitter blows around easily as well, so place the cardboard box on the side and work inside it. Decorations can be stuck into Styrofoam (the pieces you find in packaging) or hung from strings from the top of the box, and you work inside the space.
Here are a few recommendations for non-traditional colour schemes, as seen at The Christmas Place, AzMart and Liguanea Drug and Garden, and the great thing is, all spray paints and glitter needed for the project are available at these locations as well:
Look 1: Black decorations on a white tree
Look 2: An all-silver scheme works on both a white tree as well as a green.
Look 3 and 4: Turquoise and pink are not very traditional options for Christmas, but can be coordinated to your decor or used to add a playful side to your holiday décor.
Note, however, that most of these colours are available ready to buy, to help you achieve the look you want if you’re making initial purchases, but if there is a look you want and isn’t finding…D0-it-yourself, with paint.
Have fun with this, and Happy Holiday Preparations.
