Marsha’s Marvellous Styling

Under the Dryer

We are Under the Dryer this week with the team from Marsha Robinson’s Beauty Salon. Proprietor Marsha Robinson has been in the industry for 10 years but recently opened her own salon three months ago. “There is nothing more rewarding that providing your clients with a comfortable environment where they can come in, get fantastic new hairstyles and feel like they are a part of a family,” explained Marsha when asked about her new salon. The J Wray and Nephew team was also on hand to serve delicious Kingston 8 cocktails for the fab clientele of the evening. Here is what happened…

Clients: Tania Bell, Shanna Grant, Cady-Ann Brown, Shauna Farquharson and Pashique Thompson.

Glamorous Curls

Tania Bell, special projects manager

Though Tania was adamant that her hairstyles over the years have been modest, stylist Marsha was quick to point out that “Tania always requests glamorous hairdos”. Bell craves variety and is always willing to try new looks.

Personal Hair Facts:

Prior to styling the hair, Tania had a full-head application of Remi Goddess Original European Silky Straight Weave. Three packs — 18, 14 and 10 inches — were sewn in. She decided to change her hairstyle by adding curls.

Procedure:

* Use a paddle brush to remove kinks from the hair.

* Lightly apply Chi Silk Infusion to the hair extensions.

* Segment the hair by using hair clips in preparation for curling.

* Use a Clipless ceramic curling iron to create loose spiral curls.

* Protect your natural hair from heat damage by lightly misting it with Beyond The Zone Turn Up The Heat Flat Iron Protection Spray.

* Use a ceramic flat iron to straighten the natural hair to the front of the head.

* Finish the look by lightly misting the hair with Proclaim Spray On Glosser.

Tania’s take:

I think it is beautiful.

Bobbed to Perfection

Shanna Grant, customer care representative

“Shanna usually prefers natural and conservative hairstyles,” explained Marsha. Shanna’s most recent hairstyle is a sleek bob with side-swept bangs. Maintenance for this is pretty simple as it just needs to be flat-wrapped / roller-set at night and then styled with a ceramic flat iron in the morning.

Personal Hair Facts:

Prior to this visit, Shanna’s hair was relaxed and treated using the Mizani haircare line. Semi-permanent hair colour was applied and it was cut.

Procedure:

* Cleanse the hair with Design Essentials Moisture Retention Conditioning Shampoo.

* Apply a deep conditioning treatment. Marsha suggests a combination of Jheri Redding Natural Protein Conditioner and WELLA In-Depth Treatment.

* Place a plastic cap over the head, then sit under the dryer for 20 minutes.

* Rinse product from the hair.

* Combine Creme of Nature Thermal Sheen Booster and Sedu Healthy Heat Styling Protection Spray then flat-wrap the hair.

* Sit under the dryer until the hair is completely dry.

* Blow-dry hair with a round roller brush.

* Lightly mist the hair with Beyond The Zone Turn Up The Heat Flat Iron Protection Spray.

* Use BaByliss®PRO Nano Titanium flat iron to straighten the hair, then slightly curl the ends.

* Finish the look by lightly misting the hair with Proclaim Olive Spray On Glosser.

Shanna’s take:

Marsha keeps my hair healthy. Today my hair feels and looks fabulous!

Silky and Straight

Cady-Ann Brown, student

“She does hair like no other,” stated Brown, a client of six years. She also shared that what makes Marsha exceptional, is how current her hairstyles always are. “I can relax and allow her to do my hair because she is the best!” she exclaimed.

Personal Hair Facts:

Cady-Ann recently applied two packs — 16 and 14 inches — Sensational Premium Now European Straight hair extensions. Her hair was cut into layers and only needed to be restyled during this visit.

Procedure:

* Use a wide-tooth comb and/or soft bristle brush to make hair smooth and tangle free.

* Apply a small portion of Chi Silk Infusion to the hair.

* Segment the hair by using hair clips in preparation for curling.

* Style hair with BaByliss®PRO Nano Titanium flat iron.

* Finish the look by lightly misting the hair with Proclaim Olive Spray On Glosser.

Nails:

Cady-Ann received a re-polish on her acrylic and gel overlay nail tips. Nail technician Ann-Marie Bryan made sure to apply a fiery red as Brown is always experimenting with bright colours.

Cady-Ann’s take:

I love it! I always love how my hair and nails look when I leave the salon.

Remy Delight

Pashique Thompson, stylist

Being a stylist herself, Pashique knows exactly what to expect from a good hairdresser. She confidently puts her haircare needs in the hands of Marsha who executes all of Pashique’s requests effortlessly during each visit. “She is the best at what she does. So when I don’t do my own hair, I am confident that Marsha will do a great job,” explained Thompson.

Procedure:

* Apply two packs of Remy Human Hair Supreme to the entire head using the bond method.

* Cut hair into the desired style.

* Apply a small portion of Chi Silk Infusion to the hair.

* Segment the hair by using hair clips in preparation for curling.

* Use a BaByliss®PRO Nano Titanium flat iron to create loose, heavy curls to the back of the head.

* Finish the look by lightly misting the hair with Proclaim Olive Spray On Glosser.

Pashique’s take:

I love it!

Beautiful and Bouncy

Shauna Farquharson, human resources service administrator

Though she has only been a client for two years, Shauna is convinced that Marsha is the best at what she does. “I always leave with my hair looking healthy and bouncy. My co-workers always give me compliments about how wonderful my hair looks,” she divulged.

Personal Hair Facts:

Prior to this visit, Shauna sewn in 12-inch packs of Remi Goddess Original European Silky Straight Weave to the entire head. This was then cut into layers and styled.

Procedure:

* Straighten the hairline by applying (as directed on the label) SoftSheen Carson Professional Optimum Multi-Mineral Reduced pH Creme Relaxer.

* Cleanse product from hair with SoftSheen Optimum Neutralizing Shampoo.

* Once pH is reduced, shampoo with Design Essentials Moisture Retention Conditioning Shampoo.

* Rinse the shampoo from the hair, then apply Design Essentials Express Instant Moisturizing Conditioner.

* Apply Creme of Nature Thermal Sheen Booster to the hair then sit under the dryer for an hour.

* Blow-dry hair with a round roller brush and a handheld hair dryer.

* Apply a small portion of Chi Silk Infusion to the hair.

* Lightly mist the natural hair with Beyond The Zone Turn Up The Heat Flat Iron Protection Spray.

* Style the hair with a BaByliss®PRO Nano Titanium flat iron.

Shauna’s Take:

Marsha always does a fantastic job with my hair. I am very pleased with how it turned out. It looks simply amazing!
