Rainey Qualley named Miss Golden Globe 2012

People Post

She has already garnered a great deal of press attention for her stunning looks when attending events with her movie star mother. And now it seems Andie MacDowell’s daughter Rainey Qualley will come under the spotlight yet again at one of next year’s biggest award ceremonies. The 21-year-old aspiring actress and singer was recently named Miss Golden Globe 2012, by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which hosts the awards. “I would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for giving me this wonderful opportunity to serve as Miss Golden Globe 2012,” Rainey told reporters during a news conference at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood. “I’m really looking forward to being a part of the awards presentation.” The honoree is traditionally the offspring of a celebrity, with the honour previously going to the likes of Melanie Griffith, Laura Dern and Joely Fisher. More recent honorees include Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore in 2008; Lorraine Nicholson, daughter of Jack Nicholson; and Rebecca Broussard; and Kathryn Eastwood, daughter of Clint and Jacelyn Reeves. Miss Golden Globe assists at the official awards ceremony, which is slated to take place on January 15. Ricky Gervais, last year’s controversial host, will again be taking on hosting duties at next year’s televised show.

Cut-price Karl

Karl Lagerfeld has dressed celebrities including Florence Welch, Alexa Chung, Rachel Bilson, Lily Allen and Blake Lively. And he could be dressing you too once his more affordable range, Karl, launches in the new year. The 100-piece women’s wear collection will be unveiled during Couture Fashion Week in Paris on January 25. But a single photo of one of the looks has been released ahead of the launch — as well as a tantalising YouTube video. The full-length shot shows Karl has not strayed far from his design staples. The palette is monochrome with a bit of grey. Leather features heavily with both fingerless gloves and a detachable collar made from the material. The black and white sleeveless biker jacket makes the look androgynous, while black trousers give the outfit a big touch of feminine class. It has been reported that the rock ‘n’ roll-inspired collection will be versatile and made of luxuriously delicate fabrics such as silk for the blouses and dresses. The range will feature evening and daywear, including dresses with plunging backs, silver jeans and casual vest tops. Items in the collection will cost as little as £50, but up to £300.

It may still be more than you would usually spend on clothes, but the quality of the materials used is guaranteed to make it worth the expense. The designer said that this collection was especially designed to appeal to the masses. He told WWD: “It’s my today’s taste and style and a reflection of how I think a great number of people would like to be dressed now.” Lagerfeld added: “I just want not too expensive clothes that people may like and perhaps want to wear.” Although Karl will initially launch only online, there are plans to open dedicated Karl stores and temporary boutiques.

Suits you!

She stole the spotlight from her partner at his big Hollywood film premiere earlier last week in a slinky, ultra-feminine red gown that showed plenty of skin. However, in London, Jacqui Ainsley opted for a dramatically different look in a mannish sequinned suit. The 30-year-old model still managed to add a sexy touch to the ensemble by going shirtless, and bra-less, beneath her blazer, giving more than a glimpse of décolletage. Posing on the red carpet at the Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows premiere, Jacqui paired her wide-leg suit with black and diamond necklaces that draped over her chest. Her hair was slicked back in a wet-look style and her make-up was screen siren worthy with a perfect red pout and feathery fake eyelashes. Her director beau Guy Ritchie kept a tight grip on his girlfriend and mother of his baby son as they arrived at the screening at the Empire in Leicester Square.
