G2K’s Seiveright denies resignation rumours

PRESIDENT of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) youth affiliate Generation 2000 (G2K) Delano Seiveright has denied reports that he is to step down from his post in what is said to be a fallout from the JLP’s defeat in the recently held general election.

Seiveright, who was re-elected to serve a third consecutive term in November, told the Observer yesterday that there was no truth to the report.

“All rumours,” was all Seiveright was prepared to say when contacted.

Seiveright’s G2K has been blamed for waging a negative media campaign against People’s National Party leader Portia Simpson Miller in the campaign for the December 29 polls.

Seiveright, in an article earlier this week, said “as it relates to the JLP/G2K advertising campaign, I hereby put on record that while I sat as a member of the advertising committee, albeit at a late stage, many things happened which caused discomfort on my part. But I must, in the end, accept collective responsibility.”
