Entertainment Revived at Macau
Operating under the mantra ‘Entertainment Revived!’ the Macau Gaming Lounge and Bar has already started to create quite a buzz since its November opening last year on the Falken Motors property at 34 Dunrobin Avenue. Father-son duo Rory and Matthew Chinn explained that the name Macau was deliberately chosen as it is a region in China that is often referred to as the Gaming Capital of Asia. Their hope is to replicate the same here in Kingston.
While they have yet to open the doors of the gaming lounge, the rooftop bar, called ‘The Bar @ Macau’, is in full swing. Foodies rave about the offerings, ranging from Hawaiian burgers, sweet Thai chili wings, jerk chicken pasta to fresh salads and sandwiches, as well as premium drink blends and mixes, served amidst a serene yet modern décor.
With word quickly spreading the Chinns have been forced to make adjustments to not only enhance the overall dining and lounging experience, but to accommodate the growing number of customers each week. “We have massive crowds mainly on Wednesdays to Fridays. I have been told it is the perfect place to hang out before going to the clubs because of the party-like atmosphere we create with the music, food, drinks and excellent customer service,” explained Matthew. He noted that the only themed activity night happens on Wednesdays — which is the official ’70s and ’80s night — with funky mixes from DJ Steel.
The future of the trendy establishment seems bright, and the co-owners are anticipating having the bar and game lounge fully operational by this summer. “I’m looking forward to making the business a world-class operation by establishing more themed nights, and setting a new bar for businesses of its kind so that when our customers visit, it will transform how they feel and allow them to be transported from the hustle and bustle of Kingston,” an enthusiastic Matthew shared.
