MICHAEL Brissett, more commonly known on the dancehall and entertainment circuit as ZJ Liquid, remains on suspension from local radio station Zip 103FM.

The radio personality has been off air since December when it is alleged that he committed a breach of station rules.

However, earlier this week, rumours began to surface that the services of the Zip jock had been terminated.

Liquid then took to social media with a tweet on his Twitter page: “Me peeps rite me get suspend off air from last year maybe I go back on maybe not so all who a wonder that’s the story u see me a liquid

So all the media house them who a ask people about me don’t have to ask anymore u see me Lol”.

This statement from the ZJ generated responses from his supporters: “If Liquid nah play me nah listen zip a deh so me ting deh. Biggup u self me bredda”one tweet read.

Station manager at Zip Dadra Williams confirmed to Splash that the jock is on suspension. “We are unable to give a time or date of when the suspension will be lifted, but there is no truth to the speculations that his services have been terminated,” she added.

This is not the first time ZJ Liquid has been in trouble at Zip. He was suspended from the air in July last year after he played an uneditied version of Wadda Blood’s single Beggy Beggy which contained expletives. It is alleged that in order to cover up the mistake, Liquid switched to another song, but not fast enough for the ears of several listeners.

In February of last year he was suspended for playing an unedited version of Aidonia’s Love It. The suspension was lifted a month later.

Playing an expletive on air is in direct violation of the Broadcasting Commission’s rules and regulations.

The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica (BCJ) was established in 1986. Its roles includes monitoring and regulating the operations of the electronic media, broadcast radio and television. Its aim is also to balance the interests of consumers, the industries and the creative community in implementing policy and law.

The BCJ had remained low-keyed for several years. In 2009, the commission stepped up its operations when it demanded that the electronic media desist from playing songs and music videos with lewd content. Some of the BCJ’s victories include the the banning of the single Ramping Shop a collaboration by Vybz Kartel and Spice. Another was the removal of the radio show Ragashanti Live hosted by Kingsley Stewart, from the airwaves.
