Thompson Town Thriller
ON December 6, just before TEENage Observer went on Christmas break, we made our last stop for the semester at Thompson Town High School. Located in the cool hills of Mocho, Clarendon the students got an awesome treat before the school break.
Here’s what went down:
The day was cool until it started to heat up with performances, 18 young and talented students came with their talent to claim the top spot.
First on stage was Analissa Dunkley, doing a heartfelt gospel song, entitled Jesus Take The Wheel. After blessing the audience with that performance, a dance piece was done by the Junior Girls, moving to the beats of some popular dancehall songs.
Immediately after that DJ 3rd Form did a song entitled You Girl, although he performed to the best of his ability, it just wasn’t good enough. Following this was Samantha Rose doing a rendition of Mariah Carey’s I Want To Know What Love Is.
The Pop Dancehall Dancers delivered an energetic performance that was well received by the audience.
Christopher Anderson then proved to everyone he has what it takes to be the winner. He danced his way into the heart of the audience showing off his talent with his well choreographed dance moves.
Chrystal then did a poem, that didn’t go as how she hoped it would and was followed by Nicole McLean doing a song entitled Waiting For You. Doing a dance piece was Mix Group showing off their skills.
They then made way for DJ Shady with another deejaying piece, then Sashana Thomas did a dance piece and so did the Senior Girls Dance Group.
But the Senior Girls really set the students on fire with their matching costumes as well as moves.
DJ Classic followed with a weak performance and Food Kartel remixed some of the most popular dance songs making references to food, which had everyone on the edge of their seats.
There were more dance performances to come. Star Squad, Transformers and Secret Smadd Dance Group all came out and tried to wow the audience and judges with their dance moves.
As customary we had little trivia competitions where students answer questions for prizes. The winners were: Andre Williams, Nicole McLean, Annmarie Miller, Yashika Flowers, Shawna-Gaye Douglas, Samantha Rose Monique Kelly, and Sabrina Panton.
After all the students performed, there was a Pronto Cornmeal Porridge Mix Eat-Off, which was won by Delroy Thomas and Sakina Dennis for the girls’ version.
TEENage Observer then treated the audience to some musical relief from guest performer Merital, who came and rocked the stage ending the show on a high.
After that the top three were named: in third position was Christopher Anderson, second place went the Pop Dance Group and first place went Michael Martin aka Food Kartel, who will now go on to represent Thompson Town High School in the finals.
