Movie roll-out

TEENage again brings the annual Movie Roll-Out list that is sure to create a stir in 2012. Be sure to hang this on your walls and have fun watching all these movies.

FEBRUARY

Safe House

Denzel Washington is back on the scene in this action thriller revolving a fugitive (Washington) and a rookie CIA agent (Ryan Reynolds, who are on the run from mercenaries.

The Vow

The Notebook’s Rachel McAdams returns in this film, showcasing the struggles of a man who wishes to win back the heart of his wife, who lost her memory in a tragic car accident.

Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds

Tyler Perry does it again in his latest production about a wealthy man (Perry), who develops strong feelings for a single mom right before he is to be married. Also starring Thandie Newton, Rebecca Romjin, Gabrielle Union, Eddie Cibrian and Phylicia Rashad, the show is packed with star power.

Big Miracle

Charlie’s Angel, Drew Barrymore takes a break from the action scene to embark on an adventure to save the lives of grey whales that are trapped by ice forming in the Arctic Circle.

MARCH

Mirror Mirror

In this film adapted from the classic children’s story Snow White, a princess (Lily Colins) sets out to win back her kingdom from the evil queen (Julia Roberts), with the help of seven rebels.

Wrath of the Titans

Taken star, Liam Neeson is back with yet another film; this time surrounding the story of Greek myth Zeus and his struggle against his traitorous son Perseus, Sam Worthington, who played Jake Sully in 2010’s Avatar.

APRIL

The Lucky One

In this drama film, a US marine (Zac Efron) searches for a woman (Taylor Schilling), he believed was his good luck charm during wars in Iraq.

The Five Year Engagement

From the producers of the hit 2011 comedy Bridesmaids come The Five Year Engagement, which is focused on the ups and downs of an engaged couple (Jason Segul and Emily Blunt), who keep waiting for the perfect moment to get married.

MAY

The Avengers

Marvel Comics Avengers will be the first time we see Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr,) Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Captain America (Chris Evans) as the foursome to save the world. The star-packed show will also feature Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson.

Men in Black III

Will Smith is back in the third installment of the action-packed series about an agent’s quest to go back in time and change history. His co-star for the first two blockbusters Tommy Lee Jones will also make an appearance, and Josh Brolin will play a younger version of Agent K.

Battleship

Singer Rihanna (as Raikes) makes her acting debut in this drama film based on Hasbro’s classic naval combat game. Also in the cast are Liam Neeson, Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch, True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård and Just Go With It’s Brooklyn Decker.

JUNE

Snow White and the Huntsman

In yet another twist of the popular children’s book, a Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth), ordered to murder Snow White (Kristen Bell), becomes her protector and mentor in an effort to defeat the chillingly evil Queen Raveena (Charlize Theron). From the producer of Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton), this adaptation is sure to have film-goers rushing to the cinemas.

Rock of Ages

In this musical set in the 1980s in Los Angeles, two young people struggle to manage their dreams and their budding romance. Starring Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta and Tom Cruise this remake should bring a new generation to the franchise.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted

The third installment of this popular animation series is back with the animals finding themselves on yet another adventure in trying to get back home to their zoo in New York. Let’s just say, the penguins are a big part of this comedy of characters.

Jack The Giant Killer

As it seems to be the year of popular children’s stories, this film takes a twist to the famous Jack and the Beanstalk tale, as the peace between men and giants are threatened.

GI Joe: Retaliation

Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson all star in this action-packed sequel to the original GI Joe.

JULY

Ice Age: Continental Drift

In the fourth installment of popular animation, Manny (Ray Romano), Ellie (Queen Latifah), Diego (Denis Leary) and Sid (John Leguizamo) embark on yet another adventure after their continent is set adrift. Joined by Jennifer Lopez (Shira), Keke Palmer (Peaches), Wanda Sykes (Granny) and Nicki Minaj (Steffie) this instalment should not disappoint.

The Dark Knight Rises

The Batman series returns with a resurface of the popular hero after a city is plagued by the devious deeds of terrorist leader Bane (Tom Hardy). Set eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Bane’s reign of terror forces Batman (Christian Bale) to resurface to Gotham City after being blamed for Harvey Dent’s crimes with the help of Catwoman (Anne Hathaway).

AUGUST

The Expendables 2

Part two of this action movie, returns, when one of the team members are murdered, the rest are left with no choice, but to seek revenge. The time around Arnold Schwarzenegger will join Liam Hemsworth, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jet Li and Chuck Norris.

SEPTEMBER

Resident Evil: Retribution

With a plot similar to the previous installments, Alice (Milla Jovovich) tries to locate those who survived a worldwide viral infection.

OCTOBER

The Big Wedding

In this star-filled comedy flick, a long-divorced couple pretend to be married when their family reunite for a wedding. Stars include Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Robin Williams and Katherine Heigl.

Taken: Sequel

This screen-grabber is back with a part two as former CIA agent (Liam Neeson) and his wife (Famke Janssen) are the ones being kidnapped, when the father seeks revenge.

NOVEMBER

Skyfall

James Bond (Daniel Craig) is back and this time his relationship with his boss, M (Judi Dench) is tested, when her past is back to haunt her. Javier Bardem will join the cast of the 23rd installment of the Bond franchise.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn II

The fifth and final installment of the popular Twilight series has returned with a continuation of the two part finale, where we follow the newly claimed life of Bella, who is now a vampire and a mother.

DECEMBER

World War Z

Brad Pitt stars this horror action film, about a UN representative’s journey in interviewing survivors of a terrible zombie war.

Django Unchained

Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio join forces in this film surrounding a former slave, who sets out to rescue his wife from a Mississippi plantation owner. Directed and written by Quentin Tarantino, the film should be dark and gripping as is always Tarantino’s style.
