Ash Wednesday showing for Hugo
Come Ash Wednesday, February 22, local cinema lovers will be able to view the Oscar-leading movie Hugo.
The film that has been showing in US theatres from November 23 will be shown at Palace Amusement locations islandwide. An source at Palace told Splash that issues which prevented the movie from opening the same day it was released in the United States have been settled.
“Unfortunately, when the problems were finally settled, children were already back in school for the new school term so we decided to postpone the opening until Ash Wednesday,” the Splash was told.
Hugo, directed by Martin Scorsese, stars Asa Butterfield, Christopher Lee and Chloe Grace Moretz.
The movie centres around an orphaned boy who secretly lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station and gets caught up in a mystery adventure involving his late father and an automaton.
The 3D film leads this year’ Academy Awards with 11 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Director Martin Scorsese has already been making steady strides with his production having won the directing prize at the Golden Globes. Scorsese also won the directing Oscar for the 2006 movie The Departed.
