THE Corporate Area’s city’s nightlife shifts in high gear with the weekly, automobile-inspired get together Chrome Thursdaze at Twin Gates Plaza in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew.
Chrome Thursdaze, as the name suggests, is an exotic blend of automobiles, auto enthusiasts, and fashionistas in an outdoor party environment on Thursdays.
“It is a premier weekly car show,” said Richard Fletcher, one of the event’s organisers. “And, it is for anyone who appreciates high-end, clean and spruced-up vehicles. It’s the premier social experience.”
According to Fletcher, the show/lyme, which had is genesis in November 2011, was the brainchild of Unique Rides’ principal Michael Malcolm, Tori Blythe, and himself.
He said Thursdays was selected as the ideal day for the event.
“We chose Thursdays, as it was the day before the start of the weekend and good day to start to unwind,” Fletcher said. “Weekends are usually activity filled.”
“We publicise our weekly themes via social networks,” he said.
Resident soundsystem Digital Audio provides the soundtracks for the evenings. However, other sounds have been invited.
“Recently, we had Play It Loud Academy,” Fletcher said.
The disc jock’s roster includes DJ Chin, Solar Dre, Johnny Cool, DJ Naz and Yung Gunnerz.
Since its launch, the guests have included upwardly mobile executives, entrepreneurs, biker crews, and recording artistes.
“Sean Paul and Left Side were here last week,” he said. “Cutter Hype and the Crazy Bikerz have been here as well as Zawdie Entertainment members bikers.”
Fletcher said he has formed strategic alliances with other clubs and motor vehicle-related businesses.
“We have links with several persons in the car industry — Unique Rides, Jamaican Tuner magazine and Heelz and Wheelz’ Andrew Lee-sing,” he said.
“The event is poised to grow from strength to strength,” he added.
