Shaw treble gets Reggae Youths underway

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Teo Shaw opened the St James FA Division One season by scoring a hat-trick to guide Reggae Youths to a big 6-1 win over Hart Street at the UDC field on Tuesday.

Shaw scored in the 11th, 64th and 86th minutes for Reggae Youths who assumed the lead in Zone A after trouncing last season’s Division Two champions.

Richardo Wilson in the 36th, Oneil Robinson in the 55th and Leslie Foster in the 62nd also scored for the winners, while Kadmar Beadle got Hart Street’s goal in the 76th.

Lilliput Rovers are the early leaders on Zone B on goal difference over Westgreen after both scored wins.

Lilliput, who were promoted from the Division Two competition last year, beat Kempshot, 2-0, with Robert Lewis scored in the 32nd and Keniel Wilson scored in the 73rd.

Westgreen edged Seaview, 1-0, with Richard Mowatt scoring the lone goal.

Reggae Youths will seek a second win tomorrow when they play Marl Road at the UDC field.

Barrett Town will host Salt Spring United at Wyndham, while Abes and Juniors meet at Westgreen.
