Top performer
A smiling Jamila Cain from Merl Grove High School accepts her certificate for her outstanding academic performance from vice-principal Michelle Green-Spencer during a prize-giving ceremony for grade eight students at the school on Constant Spring Road in Kingston, yesterday. Apart from the certificate Jamila also received a gift basket from Cari-Med, a trophy and a gift certificate from MegaMart. Nicole Earle, grade eight supervisor at the school, said the event was held to award students who had excelled academics, those who had good conducts, and some for their participation in extra-curricular activities. Other sponsors of the event include telecoms provider LIME, which donated a TV phone, and the Wyndham Kingston Hotel, which provided a gift certificate for a brunch for two at the hotel.
