THE excitement associated with the soca season continued at the new Mas Camp — Stadium North — last Friday with Trinidad and Tobago’s popular Kes the Band.

Clad in a close-fitting white shirt, plaid jacket and black pants, lead singer Kees had the audience at Bacchanal in a frenzy from the moment he took to the stage and set to deliver hit after hit. Tunes including Wotliss, Till The Morning, We Head Bad, Stress Away and Pretty Gal had the patrons at week two of the bacchanal fêtes swaying to the infectious soca beat.

The men were in for a real treat as the scantily-clad back-up dancers provided by the band and Appleton added greatly to the entertainment centrestage. Of course, the females were not left out as a perspiring, shirtless Kees strolled through the general and VIP areas greeting his fans as he turned up the soca heat.

“Jamaica do you know how happy I am to be here once again,” he shouted to the hundreds of revellers during his hour-long performance.

Throughout the night the party animals feasted on several drink mixes provided at the Appleton and Smirnoff bars. Some even mixed their own concoctions courtesy of Smirnoff Hawker promotions. Pure Country also provided refreshing non-alcholic cocktails all night.

Kurt Riley and DJ Smoke kept the crowd in a musical trance even after the live performance, providing the most popular soca songs from the

likes of Busy Signal, Machel Montano, Destra and Shurwayne Winchester. The sweating and fêting continued into the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 2012 bacchanal ‘Future Shock’ series continues next Friday with Byron Lee’s Dragonaires and Socacise on Monday, March 12, followed by over 15 more events climaxing with the Road March on Sunday, April 15.
