Organisers say all set for 2012 Champs
IT’S all systems go for today’s start of the 102n ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships, according to chairperson of the organising committee, Colleen Montaque.
While overseeing last-minute preparations at the National Stadium yesterday, Montaque said the only major problem they foresaw was the perennial shortage of tickets for the Grandstand on Saturday.
“It is a matter of demand outstripping supply,” she told the Jamaica Observer, but went on to say all would be well from an operational standpoint.
“We are as ready as we can be and when the gates open at 7:00 am on Wednesday for the officials to come in, we will be ready to go,” she said.
Two hundred and twenty-three schools, led by Holmwood Technical and Jamaica College, will battle for points at the meet set to run through Saturday night.
In addition to the local media, organisers had accredited media personnel from the United States, Canada, Germany and France.
