BT see red against late-rallying H’View
Boys’ Town failed to take advantage of Portmore United’s dropped points to close the gap on the Red Stripe Premier League leaders after they went down 0-2 to Harbour View at the Harbour View mini-stadium on Sunday night.
Second-half goals from John-Ross Edwards and Jaron Richards saw the home team to victory, which virtually ended Boys’ Town’s title hopes, especially that Portmore drew 1-1 with Tivoli. Portmore need only to avoid defeat in their next fixture to secure the title.
Since beating Portmore back in March, Boys’ Town have wasted some great chances to close in on the front-runners and coach Andrew Price conceded that it was another opportunity lost.
“We would have hoped for at least a point from this game, but not getting anything is really going to make it difficult from here on,” he said.
After the interval, Harbour View came out a more purposeful team, and five minutes in, Edwards beat Porter with a ferocious low strike after Jeremy Lynch held off his marker and set him up from 18 yards.
Harbour View coach Donovan Hayles said his team’s recent run of good form was too little too late.
“Each team in the competition got a run, but our run came late… but it shows that Harbour View has the quality,” he said.
