MARLEY, the original soundtrack for the recently released Bob Marley documentary, debuted at the top of Billboard magazine’s Reggae album chart last week.

The 24-song, two-disc set contains most of the songs used throughout the documentary, with the exception of Teenager In Love.

Released by Island Records/Tuff Gong, the soundtrack contains the first recording by Bob Marley, Judge Not, produced by Leslie Kong in 1962.

This is the 13th time that a Marley-theme album or compilation has topped the Billboard Reggae album chart.

The soundtrack is on three other Billboard charts. It debuted at number 122 on the Billboard 200 album chart; number 20 on the R&B Hip Hop album chart; and number eight on the Soundtrack albums chart.

Over on the iTunes chart, it is number two in the United States and number four in Canada.

Another album, Bob Marley & the Wailers: Live Forever-the Stanley Theatre 1980, debuted and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 last year.

Live Forever currently holds the number eight spot on the Billboard Reggae album chart. To date, the set has sold over 73,000 copies according to sales tracker Nielsen Soundscan.

Marley’s 1984 hits package, Legend, has been re-mastered with a few bonus tracks added. Legend is the biggest selling reggae album of all time, having sold 14 million copies in the US alone and more than 25 million copies globally.

It has spent 992 consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Pop Catalogue album chart.
