Just call me Demi!
For months following their split her Twitter handle has remained as Mrs Kutcher. But Demi Moore has finally dropped her ex-husband’s name on the social networking site. Today the 49-year-old changed her name to @justdemi. Demi and Ashton Kutcher, who often used the micro-blogging site to post pictures of themselves and proclaim their love for one another, announced the end of their marriage in November. In April, the actress asked her followers on the site for suggestions for a new handle. TV personality Piers Morgan suggested, “How about @mrsmorgan?” Demi said she would ‘have to get clever’ because so many names on the popular site have already been claimed. She wrote today: “So hard finding a name that was fun somewhat playful and available. So for now it will be @justdemi It could grow on me!” She also thanked fans for helping her find a new name. The star announced her intention to divorce Kutcher last November — although proceedings are yet to be executed by either party. It followed claims he had cheated on her with partygirl Sara Leal during a seedy night in San Diego. Demi checked out of Utah’s Cirque Lodge in March, where she was allegedly treated for eating disorder issues, exhaustion and substance abuse. It came after she was hospitalised after she suffered a seizure-like episode at her Benedict Canyon home after smoking a substance, described on the 911 call as ‘like incense’.

‘It was traumatic’
She split from husband Daniel Zelman in December after more than 10 years of marriage. And now Debra Messing is speaking out about the trauma of the break up for the first time in a new magazine interview. “Twenty years. It’s a very long time,” she tells the June issue of Ladies Home Journal. “I think the institute of marriage is a noble thing. The idea of a partner for life is incredibly romantic. But now we’re living to 100. A hundred years ago people were dying at age 37. Til death do us part was a much different deal.” What made the ordeal more difficult was the fact that Debra was embarking on a move to New York and a new TV role in musical drama series Smash at the same time. “When I say the move to New York was traumatic, it was traumatic because every aspect of my life was going through a huge change,” says the Will & Grace star, who has an eight-year-old son Roman with her ex. “Every thought is dictated by what’s best for our son. We are completely on the same page in that regard. We are dear friends,” she adds. “And I am at peace with the journey we’ve had. I feel like the 20 years we had together has been a huge success. And despite the fact that everything is changing, I think everyone is thriving. It’s a new chapter in my personal life. I’m walking a path I’ve never walked before. But I’m optimistic.” There is clearly cause for positivity for the 43-year-old star, who says the split has increased her level of self awareness. “I know myself better than I ever have before,” she says. “I feel more attractive now than I have in a long time. I feel healthier and stronger. It’s hard to go through a change in your personal life as big as this anyway. But to do it when Smash is premiering, when I’m back at work after almost two years, is not ideal.”

From a meat dress to ‘solar-powered’ fashion
The man behind Lady Gaga’s wacky outfits is creating his own fashion label. Nicola Formichetti, the pop star’s 34-year-old stylist, will launch his own New York-based accessories and apparel brand in mid-2013. The Tokyo-born designer told WWD that he is creating ‘solar-powered’ garments that are intended to charge its wearer’s mobile phone. Speaking at the launch of a pop-up store in Hong Kong, which will temporarily stock another one of his collections titled Nicopanda, he described the project as ‘very digitally oriented and high-tech.’ The designer, who is also the creative director for French fashion house Mugler, said: “We’ve been working with the same fabrics, the same techniques for hundreds of years. That’s all great but we need something new. Why do you have to have a zipper when you can have a jacket that’s molded to your body?” He is planning to create clothes that incorporate the use of solar power and is currently working with a technology company to develop the necessary materials. He declined to name the company or specify where it is based. The label will be named Formichetti.
