Jamaicans want better
Dear Editor,
We are now in May, which makes it almost five months since the PNP won the general election, and so far the only “change” I have seen is the one where all those politicians affiliated with the PNP have been given promotions, not based so much on their ability to perform, but seemingly because they are supporters of the party.
Is this part of the change that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is so proud of? I would have thought that by now, seeing how influential she is, more would have been done as it relates to the country than it is to the party.
How can we talk about 50 years of Independence when the constituency of the prime minister is in a deplorable condition? If she cannot take her constituency forward, how then can she manage the country, which is so much bigger than her constituency? As a Jamaican, what is there for me to be proud of as it relates to the prime minister and what she has done so far?
Mrs Simpson Miller talked big during her political campaign. The time has come for her to walk the walk, but it seems as if she needs some new shoes.
It is high time for us to hold our politicians accountable. We cannot continue to sit by the wayside with our hands on our jaws asking what next. Jamaicans deserve much better and must demand it.
The time has come for us to awaken from our slumber, or we will find ourselves in a ditch from which there is no return.
