Barber remanded on forgery charges
A Jamaican barber who police said stole another man’s identity is expected to respond to several fraud related charges on his next appearance in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on May 17.
The 29-year-old accused, Omar Walker, who was remanded into custody, is facing two counts of uttering forged documents, two counts of forgery, two counts of making a false declaration, and possession of false documents.
The court heard that police, acting on information, arrested Walker on March13 in relation to a gun matter which is now before the Gun Court. However, while he was in custody, police carried out investigations and found out that he had acquired two Jamaican passports in the name Sheldon Kepple after he was deported from England.
It was also discovered that Walker reportedly travelled overseas several times on the passports before he went to England and married a British citizen in the new name. It is also reported that he has a British passport in Kepple’s name.
When the matter was raised in court Wednesday, one his attorneys, C J Mitchell, asked for the matter to be rescheduled to May 17.
Attorney Barry Frankson is also representing the accused.
