Ashton Kutcher as the late Apple genius
He was the visionary genius behind the Apple brand who sadly passed away at the young age of 56 last year after a battle with pancreatic cancer. And when reports first started emerging that Ashton Kutcher was set to play Steve Jobs in a film about his life, many eyebrows were raised, and not in a good way. But new pictures have emerged of the actor in costume as the Mac boss which he will no doubt be hoping will silence his critics — at least in getting the look right. Ashton, 34, looked uncannily like Jobs as he headed back onto set after a break. Clutching a soft drink in his hand, Kutcher donned a black polo neck shirt, jeans and New Balance trainers, which was pretty much Jobs’s look throughout the decades. However, there is some confusion over what year of Jobs’s life he was filming because while the hair looked like it was from the late Seventies, the outfit looked just like the one that Jobs wore in recent years. Jobs, as the film is entitled, is expected to be released at the end of the year and will feature the visionary businessman’s rise from a California hippie to co-founder of Apple.

US sporting hopefuls take centre stage on Vogue cover
Soccer star Hope Solo and tennis maven Serena Williams pose mid-stride with six-time Olympic medalist swimmer, Ryan Lochte, on this month’s cover of Vogue. Part of Vogue’s Olympic-themed June issue, it is only the fourth time in the magazine’s history a man has been featured on the cover, which has garnered mixed reviews. Lochte graces the cover shirtless with Solo on one arm and Williams clutching the other, both women wearing gold one-piece swimsuits — an image which has drawn comparisons to Men’s Health magazine. The cover photographed by Annie Leibovitz is a refreshing departure from the usual celebrity and model heavy features, however many are complaining its sporty look lacks high glamour. Reminiscent of a scene from Baywatch, the healthy looking team run arm-in-arm along a stretch of sand, clad in nothing but their swimsuits. Many have questioned the cover’s lack of colour, high fashion outfits, and quintessential Vogue glamour. However the elegant and neutral colour palette is classic Vogue, the glamour added sparingly through the use of gold — perhaps a medalist metaphor — with the twist being a buff looking male taking center stage. George Clooney, Richard Gere, and LeBron James are the only other men to have graced the magazine’s cover. The new issue featuring the healthy looking athletes is the first cover under Vogue’s new health initiative, which was announced at the beginning of May.

‘My dad gave me a freakin’ kidney!’
Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland has revealed she had a kidney transplant last month. The 21-year-old actress, who plays Haley Dunphy in the TV show, told the new issue of Seventeen magazine that she underwent the operation after battling kidney dysplasia her whole life. Hyland also revealed she got the kidney from her father, actor Edward James Hyland, ahead of the procedure on April 13th. She said: “You know that family is always going to be there for you — no matter what. My dad gave me a freakin’ kidney! But it’s also the families that you create outside of your family. And you really find out what kind of people you’re friends with. It was just amazing, and it really opened my eyes to see who’s there for me and who’s not.”
Hyland, who gave the interview while recovering from the surgery, added that she feels more than grateful to have got through the operation safely and healthily. She said: “I have a second chance at life — not a lot of people get that.” The pretty young actress also revealed she wouldn’t have been able to get through the difficult time without the support of her boyfriend Matt Prokop. She said: “He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself. Any other 21-year-old guy would not be there, I guarantee it. I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him be there for me.”
