Honouring Shearer
Opposition and Jamaica Labour Party leader Andrew Holness lays a wreath at the shrine of former prime minister and president of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) Hugh Lawson Shearer at a function to commemorate his 89th birthday at National heroes’ Park in Kingston, yesterday. Holnes was joined by the the late prime minister’s widow Dr Denise Eldemire Shearer and other politicians, including Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change Minister Robert Pickerskill — who represented Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller; Pearnel Charles, Opposition member of Parliament; Opposition Senator Robert Montaque, and representatives of the BITU, which hosted the event.
