Kingston, Melbourne in mouthwatering clash
The tantalising clash between Kingston CC and Melbourne at Sabina Park will highlight today’s start of the penultimate round of matches in the zone stage of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) two-day Senior Cup championship.
The strong Melbourne outfit, second in Zone D on 10 points, can step closer to the quarter-final round with a positive result, while Kingston (four points) need to secure an outright win to keep pace with surprise leaders St Thomas (13 points).
At the Kensington Park in Rollington Town, Kensington CC (seven points) take on the confident St Thomas team, while at neighbouring Nelson Oval, Lucas (four points) is set to host lowly Boys’ Town in the two other Zone D matches.
In another expected blockbuster, Zone B leaders St Catherine CC (18 points) face the might of defending champions Manchester CA (15 points) at Chedwin Park.
In two other Zone B matches, St Catherine CA travel to Maxfield Park to oppose Kingston & St Andrew CA and GC Foster lock horns with Clarendon CA at the GC Foster College playfield.
At Up Park Camp, Zone C front runners Jamaica Defence Force (nine points) host Portland (four points), while second-placed Police SC (eight points) journey to Eden Park to battle cellar team St Mary.
In Zone A, the home team Westmoreland (one point) will seek to upset joint-leaders St Elizabeth (12 points) at the Little London High playfield.
St James (12 points) entertain third-placed Hanover (nine points) at Green Pond High ground in the other Zone A encounter.
All matches are scheduled for a 10:00 am start each day.
