Singer Chronixx delivers fiery set
ROOTS singer Chronixx launched his Chronixx band Saturday with a fiery set at Conscious Reggae Party, held at
Tony’s Bar in New Kingston.
The 20-year-old entertainer (born Jamar McNaughton) displayed his versatility on the ballad Behind Curtains, but stuck to his conscious message on African Heritage, Start A Fyah, Wall Street, Capitalist and Warrior.
“I was performing with my band for the first time, so I really wanted to show them (patrons) the diversity of the band, yuh nuh,” said Chronixx. It’s a full band but we also have the acoustic ‘flava’ and that inspirational ‘flava’ as well.”
Chronixx, who has recorded several songs for the French label Special Delivery Records, opened with Beat On A Mic, followed by Start A Fyah, When I See You, X, Damnrude, Rain Music and Tell Me Now.
Hempress Sativa was also a hit with the fair-sized gathering, so too I-n-I Redemption band and Simone C Simpson.
In addition to launching his Purified Drinking Water, veteran percussionist Irvin ‘Carrot’ Jarrett of Third World fame entertained on drums and vocals.
