Circus Circle new leaders in hockey league
WITH another three weeks to go for the semi-finals of the JNBS National Hockey League, leaders Circus Circle (25 points) and second-placed Raiders United (24 points) are the teams with the momentum.
They both ran by former leaders Jamaica Defence Force, who are in third place with 23 points, ahead of Sharpes Rebels (21), Munro College Old Boys (17) and Explorers (two).
Circus Circle, the most attacking team in the league with 38 goals, will seek their third consecutive win today when they go up against Sharpes Rebels at 4:30 pm.
Kemar Mitchell, top-scorer for Circus Circle with 10 goals, needs at least a double to take over as the leading marksman in the league.
He will likely get backup from Gerald Richards, Charles Burton, Sherman Brown, Kishawn Whyte, Andre Gardner for Circus Circle to register their second win from three matches against Sharpes Rebels this season.
Raiders, meanwhile, led by Nicholas Beach (12 goals), will hope to keep their unbeaten record against Munro Old Boys this year when the teams meet tomorrow at 3:30 pm.
Already this season, Raiders won 2-1 and 3-2 and will search for a more emphatic win this time around.
The scheduled match between JDF and Explorers at 3:00 pm today is postponed.
In women’s league, Tropics (three points) and St Andrew (three points) will clash at 2:00 pm and cellar team Excelsior (one point) will meet leaders Sharpes Rebels (four points) at 5:00 pm, both matches to be played tomorrow.
