Slain man’s cronies threaten St James cops
POLICE in St James division have been put on high alert by the Police High Command after men loyal to a man who was fatally shot by them on Saturday have levelled several threats at them.
The dead man has been identified as Kenardo Williams, of Onatario, Canada.
Williams’ cronies have reportedly vowed to exact revenge for his death and threatened a Police Sergeant and a Police Constable in particular.
“Members are being advised to exercise caution whilst on and off duty, and to remain vigilant. Members are also being reminded to act lawfully and with respect for human rights should the need arise to repel an attack. The Commissioner is also using this opportunity to encourage Police Officers working in St. James and surrounding parishes not to be deterred by threats from hoodlums as they make inroads into bringing those involved in the lotto scam to justice,” a release from the High Command said.
Williams, otherwise called ‘Travis Hewitt’ and ‘Joe’, 33, who was a high-profile figure in the lotto scam, was fatally shot by the Police in Camrose district, St James.
Two high-powered rifles – a M4 Winchester Rifle and a Colt AR-15 Assault Rifle – and thirty-two 5.56 cartridges were seized during the incident, which continues to be the subject of a probe by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
