Four to be charged in Zion mob killing
MONTEGO BAY, St James—Four people are expected to be charged within the next few days in connection with the vigilante killing of Donovan Hazley and the injury of his 18-year-old daughter in the Zion community of Trelawny last month.
Hazley was reportedly hacked to death and his daughter severely chopped by a group of men, who also firebombed the house where they lived.
The incident occurred a few days after the death of two boys from the community. Their bodies were found in the nearby Martha Brae River.
Speaking at a press conference Thursday, head of the Police Area One, Assistant Commissioner of Police Devon Watkis, disclosed that four of the five people who were taken into custody following the incident involving Hazley and his daughter, will be charged soon.
The fifth person, he said, is still being interrogated. ACP Watkis added that more peoplecould be arrested in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, the funeral service for the two boys—10-year-old Alex Brown, and Jahvonie Brown, 8, (not related) — will be held in Falmouth on Sunday.
