Gore shifts ‘gear’ for Dover
KINGSTON, Jamaica — ATL-sponsored racecar driver Doug Gore is unable to resist the pull of motorsport. Yielding to the call of his many fans, the Montego Bay-based speedster revealed he would be at next Monday’s Heroes’ Day meet at Dover Raceway, St Ann.
“I’ll be competing in B45. I’ll be driving a bone stock Audi S5 from ATL Automotive,” Gore told the Jamaica Observer Tuesday. The event would be an exhibition race in the Bracket 45 class.
Gore’s Audi TT-R DTM is in German undergoing repairs after an accident at a Dover Raceway meet in May.
B45, previously known as IP45, is the entry-level races for rookies and cars with basic safety equipment, excluding a full roll cage. Drivers are forced to keep their lap times under one minute and 45 seconds.
The Audi S5 is the factory-tuned version of the regular A5 and runs a 3-litre supercharged V6 motor with a power output of 329-bhp.
The vehicle has permanent four-wheel and a lightning fast paddle shift double-clutch gearbox like his current racecar.
The real task for Gore will be not only reining in the speed potential of the S5, but his own natural affection for speed to ensure he doesn’t break out of the fixed lap time of the class.
