Court lifts confinement order on soldiers in Keith Clarke killing
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The confinement order against the three soldiers charged with the murder of former accountant Keith Clarke has been lifted by the Home Circuit Court.
The order was lifted Friday afternoon following an application by Queen’s Counsel Howard Hamilton, who heads the men’s legal team.
This means that the men will no longer be confined to the Jamaica Defence Force headquarters in Cross Roads, as has been the case since they were offered bail in July.
The confinement order was relaxed last month to allow the men to go home on weekends, but Hamilton told the court Friday that this was preventing the men from conducting personal business.
With the lifting of the confinement the men will now be required to report to the Cross Roads Police Station from Monday to Friday.
However, the stop order, which prevents the men from leaving the island, remains in effect.
Lance Corporals Greg Tinglin and Odel Buckley and Private Arnold Henry are charged with murder in the shooting death of Clarke at his Kirkland Heights, St Andrew home, during the mid-2010 search for former Tivoli Gardens don Christopher Coke.
