Wolmer’s Boys take on St George’s in badminton
THE first round of competition in the Jamaica Badminton Association’s (JBA) Schools’ League, Eastern Region, resumes today with Wolmer’s Boys going up against St George’s College at Wolmer’s Girls auditorium and Calabar High meeting Jamaica College at the Constant Spring Golf Club.
Match time is 2:40 pm.
The league got underway last Thursday, but only one match has so far been played, which was on Friday when hosts St Hugh’s High blanked Alpha Academy 5-0.
Defending girls champions St Andrew High did not play their opening-round match against St Jago High School on Friday because of a function at the St Catherine-based school. They will make the first defence of their title on Wednesday when they travel to Alpha Academy.
Reigning boys champions Haile Selassie High also had their opening match postponed as their opponents St Jago High could not meet their commitments last Thursday.
Haile Selassie boys will open their defence tomorrow when they take on Campion College at the YMCA.
There will also be matches in the girls’ competition tomorrow when St Jago entertain St Hugh’s and Wolmer’s Girls host The Queen’s School, with matches scheduled to begin at 2:40 pm.
The final round of matches for the boys this week will take place on Wednesday when Calabar High clash with Wolmer’s Boys at the Constant Spring Golf Club and Jamaica College oppose St George’s College at the Chinese Benevolent Association.
Seven girls and seven boys schools are taking part in the Eastern Region of the JBA Schools’ League, with preliminary rounds set to end by November 20.
