Vern Yip: Styling Success
Chinese-American interior designer Vern Yip, who spent last weekend on The Rock (including a night at the cashmere-chic Round Hill), has been creating exquisite spaces for homes, restaurants and businesses across the length and breadth of the United States of America. His impressive styling has been featured on TLC’s Trading Spaces for four seasons and numerous HGTV programmes including his latest venture Deserving Designs. Currently based in Atlanta, Yip balances life as a television star, designer and UNICEF ambassador while creating award-winning designs that not only reflect his creative expertise but also his background in architectural design. For Yip, it is important to focus on eight major aspects — accessories, colour trends, flooring, furniture, lighting, soft goods, walls and window treatments — when choosing the design that works best for each room. For his work on Star Grill — a chic new restaurant in Mandeville — he stated that “it was important for me to create an inviting space”, a philosophy he seemingly applies to all of his designs. SO shares a few of Yip’s contemporary residential designs.
