Grange Hill and STETHS continue to Ben Francis final
ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel Ben Francis KO finalists Grange Hill and St Elizabeth Technical will tomorrow start their hunt for a second final in the rural area schoolboys Under-19 football season when the Inter-zone round gets underway.
On Saturday, Grange Hill came back from an early goal to beat Manchester High 2-1 at Jarrett Park in the Ben Francis KO semi-final and qualify for their first ever major football final, while STETHS turned back a lethargic Paul Bogle High 2-0 in Santa Cruz to stay on course for a historic third hold.
The teams will meet in the final set for November 10th at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Catherine Hall.
Tomorrow Grange Hill will get yet another big test when they face two-time defending champions Rusea’s High while STETHS will face Spalding.
Sixteen games are down to be played tomorrow in the Inter-zone round.
Meanwhile on Saturday, second-half goals from Grange Hill players Norman Malcolm in the 67th minute and Akeem Shackleford in the 81st cancelled out a 50th-second goal from Delroy Miller that had given Manchester High an early lead.
Both teams created numerous scoring chances, but it was Manchester that wasted the most especially big striker Aliem Campbell who kissed a sitter that should have killed off the contest in the 66th minute.
In Santa Cruz, Jason Jacobs in the 26th minute and Rohan Lindsay in the 69th minute gave STETHS the win as they have now scored five goals and are still to concede in two Ben Francis KO games.
