Creative Kids claim Nishida’s Gymnastics Schools title
CREATIVE Kids Learning Academy (CKLA) secured the Nishida’s Gymastics & Fitness Centre Schools title last weekend held at the host’s new venue at IB Washington Boulevard, Kingston 20.
Led by Ahrun Havercroft and Kristina Munroe, Creative Kids won with a total 82.5 points, beating Liberty Preparatory (80.7 points) and St Hugh’s Preparatory (78.7 points).
Mona Preparatory and the American International School of Kingston shared fourth place with both on 75.0 points.
Competition took place in the Nishida’s Gymnastics Routine (NGR) Levels 1-5, USA Gymnastics (USAG) Junior Olympic programme Levels 1-5, and Teens and Adults Open.
Havencroft won NGR Level 3 for eight and nine years old with an all-around score of 27.90 points. St Hugh’s Prep’s Jolie-Alexis Brown finished second with 26.15 all-around, while KCLA’s Kayla Tucker taking third on 25.50.
Munroe clinched the NGR Level 3 for those nine and up after an outstanding performance on the vault (9.50) to win with 27.65 points all-around.
Her teammate Samantha Walters placed second with 26.50, while Liberty Prep’s Daniella Campbell finished third with 26.35.
In the NGR Level 2, Summer Henriques-Brown was at the top of her game for six-to-seven year olds, scoring 27.35 all-around, beating Liberty Prep’s Naomi Clarke, 26.70, and Nishida’s Gymnastics’ John Gabriel, 25.75.
The star at Level 2 overall, however, was Nishida’s six-year-old Emily Lee, who scored 27.45 points all-around.
In the NGR Level 1, Nishida’s Abigale Williams top-scored with 27.2 points all-around. She edged out CKLA’s duo of Zoe Shelton, 26.6, and Adanna Johnson, 26.5.
In terms of team results, with all levels combined, Team Ninja won with 83.35, ahead of Team Extreme, 81.9, and Team Thander, 79.7.
As expected, Nishida’s swept the Teens and Adults Open, with Daniel Williams clinching Group A with 28.10 points all-around, while Michael Lue took Group B with 28.85 points all-around. Lue was superb on the floor (9.65), vault (9.70) and bar (9.50).
In the USAG Levels 2-5, Nishida’s Paige Burke and Chrystal Darling came out one-two with all-around scores of 27.90 and 27.80 points.
Some 100 gymnasts took part in all categories.
