Olivier Shield: STGC defeat Glenmuir 4-1 in first leg
KINGSTON, Jamaica — St Georges College overwhelmed Glenmuir High School in the second half of the Olivier Shield match defeating the Clarendon team 4-1 at the Constant Spring field in St Andrew.
The first half ended one all.
St George’s, guided by Neville ‘Bertis’ Bell, took a 38th minute lead through Andre Lewis but were pegged back a minute before half time when Newton Henry struck.
Soon after the resumption St Georges’ Mark Brown restored the lead for the “Light Blues” before a pair of delightful goals from Cardel Benbow (88th) and Kendon Anderson (90th) piled late misery on the Patrick ‘Jackie’ Walters-coached team.
“We were beaten by the better team,” Walters commented after the encounter.
Glenmuir now face an uphill task overtaking title holders STGC in the second leg scheduled for Saturday.
