Pageant not a UN event, says Kashyap
THE United Nations has made it clear that it has no association with the pageant held on December 8 using the name of the international organisation.
Held at the Karram-Speid Auditorium in Kingston, the event, titled ‘Tourism United Nations Pageant’, saw a total of 25 contestants from Jamaica, The Bahamas, Guyana, New Zealand, Bolivia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Europe, North America, and Belize competing in the categories Mr TEEN, Miss TEEN, Mrs, Miss and Mr Tourism United Nations.
A story on the event was published in last week’s TEENage Observer. However, Arun Kashyap, the United Nations resident co-ordinator and UNDP resident representative to Jamaica, said the United Nations has no knowledge of the organisers of the event and is not associated in any form or manner with the related story.
