FROME, Westmoreland — Reno FC bounced back from their first loss of the season to beat Bamboo FC 2-1 at the Frome Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon as the first round of the Jamaica Football Federation Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League ended.

After a surprise loss to promoted Norwood Strikers in Montego Bay earlier in the week, Reno scored all three goals in the game after scoring an early own goal before coming from behind to win and maintain their lead atop Zone Two with 12 points.

Meanwhile, Village United and Catherine Hall drew in their top of Zone One clash in Trelawny; a retooled Wadadah beat Petersfield, while there were first wins for Granville United and Logwood United.

Reno conceded an own goal in the 12th minute, but Craig Foster restored parity two minutes later with the first of his double. However, the former Premier League champions had to wait until five minutes before the end to score the winner.

The loss snapped Bamboo’s three-game unbeaten run, as they stayed in third place on seven points.

At Jarrett Park, Tomorrow’s People snapped a two-game winless streak by blasting Norwood Strikers 5-0 to stay two points behind Reno.

After leading 1-0 at half-time through an Omar Christie 10th-minute strike, Tomorrow’s People doubled the score in the 61st through Christopher Dyer, before exploding for three more in a four-minute span near the end, as Norwood ran out of gas.

Jermaine Cooper got the first of his two in the 85th, Davell Cornwall scored in the 87th, while Cooper finished off the scoring in the 89th minute.

Village United’s three-game win streak came to an end when they had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Catherine Hall at Elliston Wakeland Centre.

Despite the draw, Village still lead Zone One with 10 points, while Catherine Hall, which were drawing for the second straight game, are a point adrift.

Andre Barrett scored his joint league leading third goal of the season to give Catherine Hall the lead after 11 minutes before Elton Reid scored his first in the 69th minute to give the home team a share of the points.

Wadadah won for the first time since beating Village in the opening game, spanking Petersfield FC 3-1 at the UDC field.

Mario Swaby gave Wadadah the lead with a header from a left wing cross in the 41st minute, as they led 1-0 at half-time.

Cassell Clayton equalised for the Westmoreland side in the 65th minute, but Oliver Traile, who left Premier League side Montego Bay United in the transfer window to return to his first club, restored the lead two minutes later, before Damion Reid sealed the win in the 83rd minute.

Former champions Granville won their first game of the season, edging Holland, United 2-1 at Sam Sharpe Teachers College with all three goals coming in a 17-minute span in the second half.

Tennison Jarrett and Seyon Afflick scored in the 63rd and 76th minutes to give Granville a 2-0 lead, the first goals for the club this season, before Romaine Lewis pulled one back for Holland in the 80th minute.

Logwood were also first-time winners, edging Harmony FC 1-0, thanks to Thovian Anderson’s 83rd minute goal.
