Megamart Mandeville opens; 200 get jobs
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Students leave the MegaMart Wholesale Club’s newest store in Mandeville, Manchester which was opened yesterday. The ‘soft opening’ attracted steady streams of prospective customers and curious onlookers to the different departments.
“The whole layout is totally different than the other stores. It is a much more eco-friendly and energy-efficient store. As we do a store we make it much better than before. The few people I (spoke) to are impressed. We think we have gotten it right. That’s what we set out to do,” said MegaMart CEO Gassan Azan.
Karlene McKenzie-Clayton, manager for MegaMart Mandeville, said that the more than 200 employees are mainly from Manchester. The staff, she said, were trained for their specific departments as well as in customer service through the HEART Trust/NTA. McKenzie-Clayton said that she is “pleased’ that persons were shopping; and from her observation “a bit of everything is moving”.
