IN the past six years, singjay Danielle has done the dancehall rounds, working with several producers to bring consistence to her career. She believes she has found that with one of the genre’s most respected teams.

Danielle (or DI) has worked with the famed Sly and Robbie-led Taxi Gang for the last 18 months. The collaboration produced the song Rebel which she says has been enthusiastically received by disc jockeys.

In early February, some of the songs from her Taxi sessions will be released as Danielle DI The Rebel, an EP which includes Rebel and six other tracks.

“I have a strong feeling that it’s going to be an incredible year. I never settled for a long time in any camp but now I have a home and that’s important,” she said.

One of Danielle’s biggest hits to date is Brown Girl In The Ring which she did with Beenie Man. The song was produced by Sly and Robbie and Rory Baker, another member of the Taxi Gang.

Prior to Brown Girl In The Ring, she had worked with various producers on a series of hardcore songs including Beat It (produced by DJ Karim), Man Wey Mi Nuh Waan (for Truckback Records) and Downtown Man which was done for Christopher Birch on his popular Gangsta Rock beat.

Danielle (given name Danielle Isaacs) got into the music business full-time six years ago. She had lived in South Florida, studying drama at Miami-Dade Community College and working out of Air Jamaica’s Miami office.

She says outrageous dancehall acts Patra and Lady Saw influenced her to become an entertainer. Bawdy songs like Man Wey Mi Nuh Waan followed the pattern of those entertainers though Danielle says she has considerably toned down her controversial image.

Released in December, 2011, Rebel has shown the staying power her previous songs lacked. She is banking on tracks from her EP to follow suit.
