Teddy McCook gets highest IAAF award
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Neville ‘Teddy’ McCook was posthumously awarded the Golden Order of Merit by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) yesterday.
McCook, a former president of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association died on February 11, was awarded for “his outstanding contribution and meritorious service to the cause of athletics”, the IAAF said.
McCook, who was buried yesterday, was an IAAF council member from 1999, and is heralded as one of the founders of the renowned Gibson Relays which took place Saturday.
