MONTEGO BAY, St James – SURPRISE mid-season champions Tomorrow’s People will take on Catherine Hall United at the UDC field on Sunday, as the cross-zone round of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League gets underway with four games.

The Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis-coached Tomorrow’s People upset favourites Wadadah FC, 3-2 in Sunday’s mid-season final at Jarrett Park to get a psychological fillip going into the third round.

Davell Cornwall, Gregory Tape and Omar Christie scored for Tomorrow’s People, while second-half substitute Ajohn Baker scored both goals

for Wadadah.

After the first two rounds, the teams from each zone will play against each other once, with the top four on total points accumulated through the season, qualifying for the semi-finals.

The four teams with the lowest points will be automatically relegated to play in their respective parish leagues.

Despite benching a number of their top players, Tomorrow’s People played arguably their best game of the season last Sunday, and if they can maintain that level, they should easily make it to the top four.

Their form in the first two rounds has been inconsistent, but coach Davis said after Sunday’s game that he hoped his players would lift their game for the third round.

Wadadah, meanwhile, are still the overall leaders on 23 points and, except for the loss in the consolation finals, are riding a seven-game unbeaten run and should beat Granville United who they will face at Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College.

Wadadah also played with a depleted team on Sunday, but should be back to their full complement this weekend.

Also, on Sunday, a struggling Holland United will host Village United at Elliston Wakeland in a Trelawny derby, while Bamboo United and Harmony SC will meet at Bamboo.

Two more games will be played on Tuesday, Reno host Logwood at From,e and Petersfield take on Norwood Strikers at Petersfield.
