PAJ congratulates Observer on 20th anniversary
THE Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) has joined several other groups and individuals who have congratulated the Jamaica Observer on its 20th anniversary.
“Twenty years of significant achievement for any entity, and in particular for a newspaper operating in Jamaica, is no ordinary feat. Jamaica, a country set it its newspaper readership habit, has seen many similar efforts buried in the proverbial publications ‘graveyard’. The work of journalists and the commitment of the team at the Jamaica Observer ensure the continued presence and impact of this newspaper,” said the PAJ.
The PAJ said it was particularly pleased with the performance of its members, including its former president Desmond Allen and former vice-president Vernon Davidson, as well as current PAJ secretary Ingrid Brown, who have worked with professionalism and integrity in helping the newspaper to achieve the credibility that it now enjoys.
“The Jamaica Observer has been a welcome addition to the local media landscape and I expect it to continue to grow from strength to strength in the next 20 years and beyond,” said PAJ President Jenni Campbell.
“The PAJ is well aware of the challenges the company has faced over the years and applauds the management and staff for successfully navigating the choppy waters in the past 20 years,” she added.
