TP, Wadadah thrill in goalless draw
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Mid-season champions Tomorrow’s People SC and Wadadah FC played out an exciting 0-0 draw in their Jamaica Football Federation Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League third-round cross-zone game at Jarrett Park on Monday.
The game was a repeat of the mid-season final that was won 3-2 by Tomorrow’s People, and unlike the game two weeks ago, the teams that were at full strength failed to score, despite creating a number of
good chances.
The point earned saw Wadadah maintain their lead with 24 from 11 games, on goal difference over Reno FC, who have played a game more, while Tomorrow’s People remained in third place on 22 points from 11 games, with Village United hanging on to the fourth place on 19 points from 11 games.
Tomorrow’s People’s Davell Cornwall, who scored twice in their mid-season win, missed the first chance of the game when he beat Wadadah’s goalkeeper Tristan Bernard in the sixth minute as his shot kissed the outside of the left post on its way out.
Curtis Palmer had two good chances to put Wadadah in the lead but missed in the 11th minute with a diving header that came back from under the crossbar. Three minutes later his soft lob shot came back off the right upright.
Late in the game, Wadadah brought on strikers Demar Dohman and Anthony Walker with the latter coming close to scoring when he shot just wide in the 84th minute.
A day earlier, former champions Granville United continued their upward movement, extending their unbeaten run to seven games with their third-straight win by edging Harmony 1-0 to move within three points of the last semi-final spot.
Holland United had a big 3-1 win over Logwood United with two goals from Romaine Lewis.
The league continues today with a full slate of matches.
