Budget Debate begins this afternoon
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2013/2014 Budget Debate begins this afternoon when Finance Minister, Peter Phillips, makes his presentation to the House of Representatives.
It’s expected that growth strategies for the economy, as well as how the budget will be funded, will be made known when the minister makes his address.
The Budget for the current fiscal year is set at $520.88 billion.
Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Audley Shaw, will make his contribution to the Debate next Tuesday, April 23 while Opposition Leader Andrew Holness will make his presentation on April 25.
Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will speak on April 30 with the Debate being closed following day by Phillips.
