Jeter injured, out of Doha Diamond League
KINGSTON, Jamaica — World 100m champion, American Carmelita Jeter saw her season opener sputter as she suffered a cramp and finished last at the Mt San Antonio College Relays in California, USA on Saturday.
Jeter, the second fastest woman in history with a personal best of 10.67 seconds, was on her way to a win when she cramped and limped to the line in 11.68 seconds.
Another American, English Gardner, won the race in a world-leading 11.00 seconds while two other countrywomen Torie Bowie (11.14) and Miki Barber (11.16) took the runner-up spots.
Jeter will now miss this weekend’s Penn Relays and the first Diamond League meet in Doha on May 10th, her coach John Smith told the International Association of Athletics Federations.
