Jamaican schools dominate sprint relay at Penn
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican schools dominate the Championship of America sprint relay, after taking five of eight final spots, when the Penn Relays continue tomorrow.
Last year’s Girls Champs winners, Edwin Allen, qualified with the fastest time for high school girls, ahead of Holmwood Technical, who regained the Champs Girls title in February.
St Andrew Girls, St Jago and Vere Technical also qualified for the final.
Two US teams, Long Beach Poly and Lincoln-Way East, and a Bahamian team, St Augustine’s, round out the top eight.
The Jamaicans will be hard-pressed by Long Beach Poly which is seeking its third consecutive win in the event.
Edwin Allen won the event twice, (2007 and 2008) with Holmwood copping the title on three previous occasions, the last time in 2010.
