ATL Auto officially opens showrooms

ATL Automotive officially opened its state-of-the-art Volkswagen Modular showroom and an Audi terminal at a glitzy function on Oxford Road in New Kingston, St Andrew, last Friday.

Government officials, regional auto industry players, business persons and motor vehicle enthusiasts were all in attendance.

Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, chairman of the ATL/Sandals Group, assured potential customers that the company is unmatched in its customer service.

“Our job is to make things better for the country through our investment in it,” he said.

Simpson Miller was among several government officials who broke ground for the construction of the buildings in January 2012.

With a tab of US$13.5 million, the construction of the Audi and Volkwagen showrooms is the largest single investment in Jamaica’s automotive history and will create much-needed jobs.

The prime minister also stressed that ATL’s track record epitomises customer service and that the country could benefit from it.

“Jamaica needs a customer service culture,” she said.

She said that while Jamaica needs and welcomes foreign investments, local entreprenuers should not hesitate to invest in their homeland.

“Nobody else is going to do it if we don’t lead the charge,” she told the audience.

Adam Stewart, CEO of ATL Automotive/Sandals Group and son of hotel mogul Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, lauded Jamaicans for believing in his company’s vision.

“I just want to thank everyone who made the company what it is today,” he said during his address.

There was plenty to be thankful for as ATL Automotive received praises from Dirk Goetz and Gabriel Mantilla of Volkswagen Latin America & the Caribbean, and Gerardo Castillo from Audi Latin America & the Caribbean.

They were also impressed by the quality of the work done on both showrooms, which they termed “world-class”.

All three showered accolades on ATL Automotive for its handling of their respective brands which were being handled in Jamaica.

Goetz handed the younger Stewart the 2012 Importer of the Year Award in confirmation of the company’s contribution to the increase in VW and Audi’s sales figures in the region and worldwide.
