Aidonia opens Guinness ‘street’ party series
DANCEHALL artiste Aidonia had hundreds of females patrons ‘eating out of his hands’ on Friday night.
The entertainer was the guest performer at Guinness’ Black the Streets party series held at Red Stripe on Spanish Town Road in St Andrew .
“Mi caa badda wid di stage. Mi de too far from the crowd,” he said before venturing past the VIP area to interact with his fans.
Throughout his almost 15-minute set, he invited a few females to gyrate on him sexily and the women were only too happy to oblige.
Among his list of well-received songs were Tan Tuddy, Six Thirty, Back Up You Bumpa and 100 Stab.
His males fans were not left out as he later diverted his set to deliver a string of ‘gansta’ hits like No Take Chat From No Bwoy, Run Road and La La Land.
Selectors from Coppershot, Black Kat and Flava Unit kept the patrons in the jam packed venue entertained with ‘wicked’ dancehall and hip-hop selections.
DJ Bada Bling from Flava Unit Disco had the crowd in laughter when he pulled a prank on a female patron.
“I feel like giving away a flat screen tonight, so the first lady to fill these empty crates with Guinness bottles will win herself the flat screen,” he said.
Before he could complete the sentence, two females frantically hurried through the crowd grabbing available bottles. A gift-wrapped 32-inch plasma TV box was brought on stage.
“I want you to pose with your flat screen for the cameras before opening your gift. Pose and show off because you work hard for it,” he said to the winner, who was more than overjoyed.
Upon opening the box, there was no TV inside but a puppy, who the selector said was named “Flat Screen”.
The crowd erupted in laughter. The embarrassed victim of the prank had no choice but to join in. She was not left empty handed though as she was presented with a Guinness gift basket.
Friday’s staging was the first of three major Guinness Black the Streets events. The others will be held in Montego Bay and St Catherine. There are also several bar tours leading up to all three major stagings.
“The Bar Tour, undertaken under the banner ‘Guinness Made of More Black the Streets, is
“to revive the Guinness Man’s pride with his favourite brew, inviting him to … seek more, stand out more and be made of more,” says brand manager, Racquel Nevins.
