CHRIS ‘Mac Daddy’ Kelly, a member of the 1990s hip- hop duo Kris Kross, has died.

The Associated Press reports that Kelly was found dead at his home near Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday. He was 34. Reports suggest he may have died from a drug overdose.

Kelly and Chris ‘Daddy Mac’ Smith shot to fame in 1992 with the song Jump.

Signed to Jermaine Dupri’s Ruff House Records (distributed by Columbia Records), the teen duo became famous for wearing their costumes backwards.

In 1992, they teamed with deejay Super Cat for two smash hits, the remix of Jump and Alright. Jump spent eight weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart

that year.

Kris Kross also performed in Jamaica at Sting in 1992 at the National Stadium.

Sting promoter Isaiah Laing remembered Kelly as a “creative kid”.

“When he and the other Chris came to Jamaica, they were both willing to do what we asked them to do, as far as interviews and promotion. They interacted with the kids when they performed

on the early edition of Sting,” Laing recalled.
